Our mission is to cultivate a culture of positivity and understanding around mental health in Saskatchewan. Through our event, we aim to create a safe and supportive space where everyone feels comfortable discussing mental health openly and without judgment. By coming together and raising funds for community improvement, we can ensure that vital programs and services are available to assist those in need, fostering a stronger, healthier community for all.
RUN FOR
Mental Health
0.0s
Candle Lake Fun Run Inc. is made up of a small group of individuals who love nature, the lake, and believe
that keeping active is important for our mental wellbeing. We are friends, family, and neighbours who've
come together with a vision to host a fun run in the vibrant community of Candle Lake to raise money for
mental health initiatives in Saskatchewan. This cause is near and dear to us, we've watched family and
friends struggle with mental health challenges like depression, addiction, and anxiety. Like so many, we
have lost loved ones and this is our way of honouring them. The need for mental health services and
supports is growing, and our fun run is one way we can contribute to this very important cause.
The vision for the event became clearer after we approached the Candle Lake Golf Resort in the summer
of 2021. We pitched the idea of hosting a fun run with a festival atmosphere, where the community would
be invited to come out in support of mental health. The resort came on board and agreed to host the
event on their beautiful property. With a date booked for the fall of 2022, we incorporated to become
Candle Lake Fun Run Inc. and our small volunteer board hit the ground running (pun intended)! Our
sponsors were critical in making this event a reality and the support from community groups and
businesses of all sizes has been outstanding.
This event has now become a place to build community and belonging. Most importantly, these amazing
businesses and individuals agree that mental health services and supports in our communities are needed
now more than ever. Thanks to our many generous sponsors and volunteers, the third annual Candle
Lake Fun Run will be taking place on September 13, 2025.
